Bio Sketch

Natasha Nemmers, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University. Her research program focuses on functional and cognitive health among older adults at risk for social isolation, such as those living alone. Additionally, Dr. Nemmers investigates the role of family and paid caregiving networks in supporting these individuals. Her work is dedicated to advancing strategies that facilitate aging in place and enhance psychological well-being among older adults.

Research Focus

 

Dr. Nemmers utilizes nationally representative longitudinal data, such as the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) and the National Study of Caregiving (NSOC), to explore dementia family caregiving networks and associations with care outcomes.

 

In addition, she is leading a mixed methods study titled, "Bridging Perspectives from Persons Living Alone with Cognitive Impairment (PLACI) and Family or Friend Care Partners: Understanding Current and Future Care Needs, Support, and Preferences," funded by the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
